Jewish Immigrant Aid Services 

JIAS Toronto’s Virtual English Conversation Circles program provides opportunities for adult (18+) newcomers to Canada to practice their English conversation skills in an informal and friendly setting while also alleviating the negative effects of social isolation. Groups are meeting weekly and led by qualified volunteer facilitators who are fluent in English.

Community Living York South

Community Living York South is a not-for-profit organization that provides support services to children, youth, adults and seniors who have an intellectual disability and live in the Southern York Region. Support is also provided to the families of those we support. We support people to live, learn, work, and participate in their community.

360Kids Virtual After School Program.

The 360kids After School Program (ASP) is now running virtually via ZOOM. The programs run three days a week and continues to focus on our three core values: educational support (homework help), nutrition and healthy living, as well as physical education through interactive lessons, games, activities, crafts and more. Our team of staff make weekly deliveries straight to the homes of our youth with a package that provides all materials needed for the upcoming week.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of York – Virtual Mentoring

(6-15)

 Virtual Mentoring is a free 1:1 mentoring program that provides young people (aged 6-15) with virtual Mentors with whom they can connect with via phone, text, and video calling applications. Matches communicate regularly and have a weekly activity or task to work on together. Each activity is specifically designed to promote connectedness and build a developmental relationship between mentee and mentor.

Future Possibilities for Kids (FPK)​

Program: Ready, Set, Goal!

Description: The RSG! Program runs for 6 months from November to May and serves children between ages 9-12. Children are paired 1:1 with a trained adult volunteer called a KidCoach. They participate in weekly 30 minute phone calls and follow a ‘Kid-led’ curriculum to support their development in the areas of leadership, agency, confidence, awareness, and ‘doing good’ within the community. Through the weekly phone calls, Kids will create and take action towards achieving their very own Goal of Contribution. There are 4 virtual ‘Activity Days’ where Kids will participate in teams of up to 10 other Kids and 10 other adult KidCoaches. Youth Counselling Program  Serves 11-29 

The Youth Counselling Program is designed to build strengths, resilience and coping skills among youth. Through individualized one-on-one support, this service provides free weekly sessions for youth to discuss issues affecting their lives. The counsellor will work collaboratively with the youth to enhance their understanding, overcome their challenges and meet their goals.

JHSYR will provide support to youth and families through access to free counselling and financial supports to purchase basic necessities and technology support.

Virtual Go Girls! is a free group program for female-identified youth between the ages of 10-15 years old, focusing on healthy living and female empowerment. The program will run for 8 weeks with one sessions each week at a pre-set day and time, and will be facilitated by 2-3 trained Mentors. Virtual Go Girls! will provide an opportunity for young people who may be feeling isolated and lonely during this time to connect with other participants, and engage in interactive activities and discussions.

NGM Boys Club is an online community for boys in Grade 7-9 to connect, develop trusting friendships, and find the support they need to navigate the tough school year ahead. It’s hosted on a private Discord server—a robust digital platform that is popular with youth and accessible to anyone with a device and access to the internet.

Healthy Youth Preventative Education Program

The HYPE (Healthy Youth Preventative Education) Program is an evidence-based program that targets the prevention of violence through the promotion of positive, healthy relationships. The HYPE program offers small group sessions that promote healthy relationships and target a wide range of risk behaviours, and addictions among adolescents.

Through this program, youth will be equipped to engage in healthier relationships and build social and emotional strengths.

  • This program is ideal for youth aged 11-25.

Description: Our L.I.T program is a social group for girls who want to build on their leadership, communication, and advocacy skills. This programming puts the tools for empowerment in girls’ hands, encouraging female leadership. This program is also an opportunity for girls to earn their community hours for high school and receive hands-on experience working in the helping field.

NGM Boys Club is an online community for boys in Grade 7-9 to connect, develop trusting friendships, and find the support they need to navigate the tough school year ahead. It’s hosted on a private Discord server—a robust digital platform that is popular with youth and accessible to anyone with a device and access to the internet.

The HYPE (Healthy Youth Preventative Education) Program is an evidence-based program that targets the prevention of violence through the promotion of positive, healthy relationships. The HYPE program offers small group sessions that promote healthy relationships and target a wide range of risk behaviours, and addictions among adolescents.

Through this program, youth will be equipped to engage in healthier relationships and build social and emotional strengths.

360Kids Virtual After School Program

The 360kids After School Program (ASP) is now running virtually via ZOOM. The programs run three days a week and continues to focus on our three core values: educational support (homework help), nutrition and healthy living, as well as physical education through interactive lessons, games, activities, crafts and more. Our team of staff make weekly deliveries straight to the homes of our youth with a package that provides all materials needed for the upcoming week.

The Sankofa Mentoring Program is rooted in an African Rites of Passage framework that highlights the principles of Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, Faith and Self-Respect.

During this period of physical distancing due to COVID-19, the program will be delivered online on Thursdays only from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm for all York Region students.

Digital Storytelling workshops  

CAYR's Digital Storytelling workshops provide individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQ+, use substances, and/or are impacted by HIV/AIDS an opportunity to tell their story in a creative way. Participants have the opportunity to create a short video (2-4 minutes) of image, voice, text and music layered together to tell any part of their life story.  The workshop is grounded in the storyteller’s control over telling their story. Share your story and make an impact!

Part 1 of this workshop will focus on script writing and voicing your story in a story circle. 

Part 2 of the workshop will focus on getting in touch with your creative side and transforming your story into a digital story video.

This support is specifically for racialized families who have had some level of contact with the child welfare system.

JHSYR will provide support to youth and families through access to free counselling and financial supports to purchase basic necessities and technology support.

Virtual Go Girls! is a free group program for female-identified youth between the ages of 10-15 years old, focusing on healthy living and female empowerment. Virtual Go Girls! will provide an opportunity for young people who may be feeling isolated and lonely during this time to connect with other participants, and engage in interactive activities and discussions.

Immigrant Youth Centre  

For Newcomer Youth Ages 13-18

Virtual Homework Club: In collaboration with post-secondary student tutors from the University of Guelph – Participants will receive one-on-one tutoring and mentorship on any academic subjects needed via Zoom. Participants will join weekly group sessions to support soft-skills building, learn about community resources and career or education pathways. Tutoring schedule is personalized to participant’s availability.

CAYR and Rainbow Workshops:

Digital Storytelling workshops

  

CAYR's Digital Storytelling workshops provide individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQ+, use substances, and/or are impacted by HIV/AIDS an opportunity to tell their story in a creative way. Participants have the opportunity to create a short video (2-4 minutes) of image, voice, text and music layered together to tell any part of their life story.  The workshop is grounded in the storyteller’s control over telling their story. Share your story and make an impact!

 

Part 1 of this workshop will focus on script writing and voicing your story in a story circle. 

Part 2 of the workshop will focus on getting in touch with your creative side and transforming your story into a digital story video.
