York Region District School Board through its International Education Services department is enriched by providing opportunities to live and learn with students from around the world. Our schools foster excellence, celebrate diversity, promote individual competence and champion quality education.
Students from every continent are learning in our schools.
York Region students and teachers are encouraged to develop a global focus by receiving international students into their classrooms and by taking advantage of the many opportunities to study outside Canada.
Academic programs are available for students entering JK to Grade 12. We look forward to welcoming, in person, our international students for the upcoming school year.

Planning for the 2022-2023 School Year
At this time, we are focused on welcoming new international students to the September 2022 semester and supporting existing students in their educational goals.
We have been actively planning for the next school year, and while most students are now attending school in-person (face-to-face), we recognize that some families may wish for their child to continue online learning. The Government of Ontario recently announced that school boards must continue to offer students virtual learning for the 2022-2023 school year. Accordingly, for 2022-2023 school year, YRDSB is providing face-to-face (F2F) and virtual learning. Virtual learning will be offered through an Elementary Virtual School (EVS) and Secondary Virtual School (SVS). International students must be in Canada to participate in virtual learning.
What you must do before coming to Canada
Before leaving for Canada, please refer to the Immigration, Refugee & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) travel directive.
We encourage you to make travel plans only when your child has met the travel conditions outlined by IRCC. All travelers entering Canada must follow the travel guidelines established by the Government of Canada. A checklist is available to guide you through the steps.
