Specialized Arts Programs

YRDSB also has a specialized arts program for students in Grades 5-8 at Baythorn Public School, as well as specialized programs in four secondary schools. 


The specialized Arts program in elementary is a four-year integrative arts program. York Region students have the opportunity to explore the disciplines of dance, drama, visual arts and music while meeting the necessary curricular requirements for the grades five, six, seven and eight programs. This program is currently offered at Baythorn Public School

The elementary specialized arts program hosts information sessions in the late fall and registration opens in February. 

 

O.S.S.D. and Specialized Arts Program

The specialized arts program is a four-year arts program for YRDSB students who are committed to exploring and deepening their understanding, skills, and experiences in the arts. The program offers a package of specialized arts credits (two per year) that count towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.). Students will receive a certificate upon completion. Students are invited to apply to the school that corresponds with their attendance boundary (PDF)

Transportation is not provided to any of our YRDSB Specialized Arts programs.

The secondary specialized arts program hosts information sessions at each school in the fall. Registration opens in November and applications are available in late fall. Please visit your regional arts program page for more information.
