The Human Rights Commissioner's Office (HRCO) Reporting Form is available to any member of the Board community to report a human rights complaint, issue or matter.
Note to students: The Report It tool lets students share information about inappropriate behaviour or incidents of hate or discrimination that happen at school, at school-related events, online or off school property.
Note to all: The HRCO does not accept anonymous complaints.
What happens after I submit a Reporting Form?
A submitted Reporting From is received, reviewed and retained by the HRCO. If you complaint appears to fall under the Board's Human Rights Policy #240, you will be offered a confidential consultation with a Human Rights Officer in order to determine next steps.
The Reporting Form is used for our general understanding of the key issue(s) related to your complaint or matter. Please note that submitting a Reporting Form does not begin a formal complaint or guarantee that any specific action(s) will be taken by the HRCO.
Confidentiality
The HRCO considers all Report Forms to be confidential at all times. This includes includes any personal information or reasons for reaching out to our office. The information submitted in the Reporting Form will not be shared with any other department or unit within YRDSB.*
*If disclosure of information is necessary for any reason, we will first obtain your written consent before sharing any personal information. In exceptional circumstances, where required by law or where there is risk of significant harm to anyone’s health or safety, we may refer the matter to appropriate parties within the Board and/or notify third parties, such as the police or child protection authorities.
