Aldergrove P.S. Black History Celebration

Media Advisory

2/25/2018

As part of African Heritage Month celebrations, Aldergrove Public School will present a production to celebrate Black history. The production is part of an activity that focuses on understanding and valuing Black identity in a society in which the identities of all Canadians are important. Through two stories – the Wings of Ikarus Jackson and a narrative based on interviews with community merchants and professionals from the Markham Black Community – students at Aldergrove will make connections to their own lives and deepen their understanding of equity. The wisdom of friendship, solidarity and striving for social justice for all will be reflected in words, music, song, dance and images.
