What:
Staff and students will be joined by Shirley Douglas, daughter of Tommy Douglas, to celebrate the official opening of Tommy Douglas Secondary School (TDSS).
The celebrations will feature various presentations including the unveiling of canvas artwork to mixed media wood panels depicting Tommy Douglas; drama students performing a tribute to Tommy Douglas; a ribbon-cutting and a video montage.
Home to Grade 9 and 10 students, TDSS is currently a small but growing school making an impact on students through rigorous academics, athletics and clubs. The school offers a variety of programs to help students develop into conscientious, responsible members of society.

Why:
To celebrate the official opening of Tommy Douglas Secondary School as well as honour the school’s namesake. Tommy Douglas was the Premier of Saskatchewan and to this day continues to be one of the most important Canadian advocates for social justice and universal health care.
