The battalion hosting this ball was one that recruited men from the Quinte Region of Ontario. The 254th Overseas Battalion, with many others, made up the Hastings and Prince Edward County Regiment. Their soldiers are noted for bravely fighting in many significant battles, including The Battle of Mount Sorrel, the Somme, Ypres, and Amiens.
