Youth to Help Promote the Connection between Wellness and the Outdoors

Students will work with public health nurses and local conservation professionals to generate innovative solutions to improve youth health through increased access to nature. To inform their ideas, students will learn more about the connections between nature and physical and mental health, including mood walks and forest sits.

The event gives students an opportunity to collaborate, problem solve and apply learning while connecting with nature. Organized in collaboration with the Regional Municipality of York Public Health and Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, this is part of the innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship training for Specialist High Skills Major students.

9:45 -11:00 a.m. - Students will be learning from community partners about the connection between wellness and the outdoors.

1:45-2:45 p.m. - Students will be presenting their ideas and solutions to community teams.

Secondary students enrolled in Specialist High Skills Majors, and representatives from York Region District School Board, Regional Municipality of York Public Health, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
