The City of Richmond Hill will hold a by-election on Monday, October 19, 2020 to fill the vacant trustee position for Richmond Hill, Wards 1, 2 and 4.

York Region District School Board will hold an online information session for individuals who are interested in running for the vacant trustee position on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. to help candidates better understand the role and responsibilities of a trustee.

If you are interested in joining this session, please pre-register to receive information and connection instructions directly.  Details will be posted on the Board website for any candidate, potential candidate or member of the public who is interested in participating as an observer.

Questions about the role of school board trustees may be directed to your local trustee, myself as Board Chair or Corporate Secretariat and Trustee Services.

Nominations for the trustee position are being accepted by the City of Richmond Hill until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020. Individuals interested in running for the vacant trustee position are encouraged to visit the Municipal By-Election page on the Board website to learn more about the role of school board trustees and key dates. This page will be updated regularly with information to support candidates and voters.

The by-election will be conducted through internet voting by the City of Richmond Hill.  Voting will open at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 and remain open until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020.

Additional information about the election, internet voting and the nomination process is available on the City of Richmond Hill election information page.

Sincerely,

Juanita Nathan
