City of Richmond Hill By-Election and YRDSB Trustee Candidate Information Session
The City of Richmond Hill will hold a by-election on Monday, October 19, 2020 to fill the vacant trustee position for Richmond Hill, Wards 1, 2 and 4.
York Region District School Board will hold an online information session for individuals who are interested in running for the vacant trustee position on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. to help candidates better understand the role and responsibilities of a trustee.

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples’ Day. On this day, we honour Indigenous heritage, celebrate Indigenous cultures and recognize the achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. In particular, we want to honour the importance of contributions by Indigenous students, staff, and community in education.

Our priority of championing equity and inclusivity has a focus on addressing incidents of anti-Black racism. We are providing you with an update on our progress this year and details on our plans for the year ahead. Transparency and accountability are essential elements of our plan.

I would like to update you on our commitment to anti-Black racism. Regrettably, anti-Black racism exists in Canada and in our communities. We know that racist incidents also occur in our schools and how we address them is critical in our work to reduce them and address systemic barriers. Discrimination and oppression of racialized individuals has occurred for hundreds of years.
