As you may have recently seen in the media, all Ontario school boards received memos from the Ministry of Education late Friday afternoon outlining funding reductions or cuts to the Education Programs - Other (EPO) grants.

Dear families, We have heard from many members of our community requesting an opportunity to address the Board with the personal impact and suggestions regarding the xenophobic and racists remarks attributed to the trustee-elect from East Gwillimbury and Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Every Student Counts

  If we have a negative experience in school where we don’t feel like we belong or feel like we are worth anything then it’s hard for us to go into adulthood with confidence and with a sense of feeling like we are capable of conquering anything because all through our childhood, our school life, we’ve been in the shadows.

Orange Shirt Day

​Today as a school board, we recognize Orange Shirt Day. Across our school board, students and staff members are wearing orange and holding events to honour the courage and resiliency of residential school survivors and to reflect on the lasting legacy of this dark part of our history.

Charting a New Course Together

I hope everyone had a great week getting back into the routine of the school year. The strength of our Board comes from our people and I want to say a special thank you to our staff members for all that they do to make our students and families feel safe, welcome and cared for as they transition into the new school year. Our Direction We are a large board; to be successful, we need a precise plan to reach our destination, and we must be intentional and aligned in our work.
