Online Learning Secondary Summer School Registration

Before Applying

Prior to submitting an application, please review the requirements below.

Review the self-check items listed below. Use them as a guide to help decide if Online Learning Secondary Summer School will fit your educational and personal circumstances.

  • I have access to a computer with high-speed internet.
  • I have a study space (work area) to do coursework.
  • I have access to a desktop or laptop computer to do coursework. 
  • I can manage my time to support homework/assignment completion by the assigned deadline.
  • I am comfortable with and prepared to contact the teacher(s) when I have questions.
  • I am willing to commit approximately 8 hours daily as study time for the summer session.  
  • I am motivated to give my best effort to the completion of my learning goals.
  • I am able to read and comprehend written instructions and feedback given to me.
  • I am able to make arrangements to attend all mandatory face-to-face sessions on the specified date, time and location.

Before submitting an application review the following: Course Catalog, Important Dates (below), FAQsPolicies & ProceduresSystem Requirements, and Information About the Education Act.

  • Applications that in​clude inappropriate email addresses will not be processed.
  • When providing an alternate email address, list one with a different provider on the application. For example, if your primary email address is with Hotmail, provide an alternate with Gmail or another email provider. 

In-person attendance for all mandatory face-to-face activities at the scheduled date, time and location is required. No exceptions will be allowed for mandatory events.

  • Students are not required to log in at a specific time each day, there is flexibility so that they may log in at a convenient time for them. 
  • Students can expect to do a minimum of 6 hours of learning each day. 
  • At most 1 full credit course may be taken during the summer session.

Complete applications will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis. Online Learning Secondary Summer School is not responsible for informing applicants about an incomplete application.

Online Learning Secondary Summer School Application

Submit an application within the category listed below that relates to your current situation.

​​​​​Registration period

April 19, 2022  - June 17, 2022, for applicants attending a regular YRDSB secondary day school​. 

School Permission

  1. ​Connect with your YRDSB Guidance Counselor to determine if you qualify to take an online learning course through Online Learning Secondary Summer School.
  2. ​​If approved, you are eligible to take at most: 1 credit through Online Learning Secondary Summer School. 
  3. Half-credit courses such as CHV2O and GLC2O, cannot be taken simultaneously during the summer session. Students who choose to apply for both CHV2O and GLC2O courses must take the courses consecutively in session 1 and 2. It is also recommended that the two courses are taken through the same program.

Application

  • MyPathwayPlanner will be used to register for a course offered through Online Learning Secondary Summer School.
  • Online Learning Secondary Summer School will be listed as Sec - Summer Online Learning (Asynchronous) in MyPathwayPlanner.

  • Once you have submitted an application via MyPathwayPlanner, please contact Guidance using your school's Summer School approval process. 

  • Registration period: April 19, 2022 - June 17, 2022
  • Adults 18 years of age or older, who are not attending a regular day school. 
  • Submit all documents before applying.​​​

  • Submit documentation as indicated in the 'Required Documents Table'  below, to online.learning@yrdsb.ca 
  • Expired documents will not be accepted. 
  • For applicants not able to email documents, please contact the office for other options at online.learning@yrdsb.ca.
  • The Registration Coordinator will contact applicants if a registration interview is required.

Application

Once completed, click the “Submit” button to complete your online application request. You should receive an automated email confirming the office has received your online application. If you do not receive an email, contact online.learning@yrdsb.ca immediately. Provide your first, last name, and course. Indicate that you didn't receive the automated email message.

Note: Online Learning Secondary Summer School does not contact applicants advising them of incomplete applications. Ensure that a complete application is submitted. Clicking on the 'Begin Online Application' link above indicates that you understand and accept all policies, practices, and procedures at Online Learning Secondary Summer School. 

Visa students, non-residents of Ontario, and others who do not qualify to take courses in Ontario will be required to pay the full tuition fee. 

  • Registration period: April 19, 2022 - June 17, 2022
  • Applicants attending a school board such as YCDSB, TDSB, DDSB, private school students, etc... 
  • Meet with your Guidance Counselor before applying.

If you qualify to take a course with Online Learning Secondary Summer School, request that your Guidance Counsellor​ sends a confirmation email  to online.learning@yrdsb.ca

The email subject line must include your full name, OEN, and the course code for which you have permission. The body of the email message may be left blank. In addition, attach a copy of the Original Transcript OR Credit Counselling Summary. If approved, students are eligible to take 1 credit during the summer session.

Note: Session courses such as CHV2O and GLC2O, if available, cannot be taken simultaneously during the summer session.
