The Preschool Speech And Language Program is designed to deliver speech and language services for preschool children and their families, from birth to SK entry. A smooth transition to senior kindergarten is facilitated by the staff of the Preschool Speech and Language Program and the Board. With permission from the family, the Preschool Program Speech-Language Pathologist will provide the School Board with a report outlining your child's speech and language needs. Educational materials on normal language development and techniques to stimulate language development are widely distributed to parents across York Region. Parent workshops are also offered to provide strategies around early language development, fluency, sound production and oral motor difficulties. The Preschool Speech-Language Pathologist can also determine if it is appropriate to refer children to services available through the Community Care Access Centre of York Region Speech-Language Pathologist.
