The World Classroom Program is a short term immersion program available to school groups who have partnered with YRDSB. The program takes place during the regular school year focusing on integrating international students with local York Region (YRDSB) students.
YRDSB welcomes visiting international students from around the globe:
- Secondary students, age 14 to 18, Grades 9 to 12 - October to November or March
- Elementary students, age 10 to 13, Grades 5 to 8 - October to November or March
The program is available from October to May with exceptions made for Christmas break, the month of January and March break.
Visiting students are partnered with host YRDSB students in the same grade/age. Host students and their families will provide homestay placements.
Visitors will live with his or her buddy’s family participating in daily family routines and will participate in school classes with his or her partner. Weekend excursions are planned for the host and visiting students.
At the end of the program, each visitor will receive a progress report card and an achievement certificate.
