Recognition of Passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
I would like to recognize the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8.
Our thoughts are with the people of the United Kingdom and all those in York Region, and around the world, who are mourning her passing.
Throughout The Queen’s 70-year reign, the longest of any British monarch, she exemplified service to others, to the Commonwealth and to the people of the many Commonwealth nations.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch in Canadian and Commonwealth history. She was the first monarch to be crowned Queen of Canada.
Let us remember Her Majesty the Queen for her service to others and for her contributions to international peace and solidarity through the Commonwealth of Nations.
In honour of Her Majesty the Queen, flags at York Region District School Board schools and buildings are being flown at half-mast.
On behalf of the York Region District School Board, I express my deepest sympathies to members of the Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
